Get the Edge Clinic starts september 13thSep. 2, 2010
This is a Program for ALL AGES and ABILITIES!!!
Skaters are broken into groups according to skill levels and will work with various coaches…
Hockey Skating Skills: The Basic Hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. In 4 badge levels, skaters will learn to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice. ALL elements will be taught without a stick or puck, as proper skating techniques are the primary focus of the levels. Skaters will learn the necessary skating fundamentals to be successful in game situations. This part of the program is ideal for the beginner hockey player or someone looking to start playing in the fall.
Intermediate/Power Skating Skills: This part of the program builds on previously learned skating such as backward and forward crossovers, stopping, turning and balance exercises. Adding power and speed enhances these elements. Skaters will develop stamina, agility, speed and coordination.
Advanced Hockey Skills: Skills drills will include passing, stick handling, and shooting – both stationary and with movement.
Each group will rotate through three stations working with different coaches on different skills. The less advanced skaters will spend more time focusing on the skating skills to prepare them for more advanced drills, while the more advanced skaters will spend most of their time on the power skating and stick/puck handling drills.
